The Wrong Trio

The Wrong Trio performs original jazz compositions in a modern style with the vintage attitude of warmth, openness and humanity. The band features Tommy Carroll on drums, Beau Barry on saxophones and Lyn Rye on bass. While the band doesn’t believe in ‘right’ decisions, you could certainly go wrong by not checking them out.

Tommy Carroll is a drummer / composer / producer whose bands Calculated Discomfort and Prosthetic have appeared everywhere from the Art Institute of Chicago, the Steppenwolf Theater and Navy Pier, to the pub around the corner from your home. He is a proud improviser and interpreter of many styles, and a founder of Cuerpos Justificados, a grass-roots disability arts and culture collective.

Beau Barry is a saxophonist who has performed with dozens of bands in Chicago since the 1990s. You probably recognize him from performing during the day on corenrs all around the city. Don’t tell him, but he’s also the spiritual leader of the Wrong Trio.

Lyn Rye is a Chicago bassist, singer, and composer whose second album, Soft Blood, was released on Sept. 9th, 2022."As a versatile bassist who plays with

folk, jazz, hip-hop, and rock musicians, Rye is someone who can create genuine newness. Being able to create beats, sing, play bass, and collaborate allows

them to escape any boxes threatening to confine their music to genres."(Scapi Magazine)
